8 months of Fun!!

We have had a lot of fun the past 8 months. Dylan had many first experiences. We like to stay busy! I'm always on the lookout for fun, new and exciting things to do. I love making memories wether it be sitting at home playing in the backyard or taking a day trip to visit Aunt B. I love to document as much as I can through photos. A picture is worth a thousand words right? Here are many pictures to recap our last 8 months.
Dylan got Woody and Buzz for his birthday. They immediately became his best friends.

This began a whole "buzz lightyear" phase. Every day at day care his teacher would ask " is he Dylan today or Buzz!" Lol. He has an amazing imagination and it's so fun to just sit back and watch him in action.

He also has a love for cars. It began with Popeye giving him a lightning McQueen and Mater car for Christmas. Not only does he love the movie Cars, he loves just cars in general. I couldn't even guess how many cars he has. He loves to line them all up, take them down ramps, in the bath tub, he almost always has a car in his hand!
Here are some pics of first experience over the last several months:
1st time at McDonalds Playplace

Seeing Elmo at Sesame Street Live
 Catching lightning bugs
 1st movie Monsters University

Gymnastics lesson

Excited for swim lessons
Picking apples!

We have made many more memories at our favorite places. Lots of visits to the zoo with friends. Fun times with family, playing on his new swing set that grandpa David and Daddy built, and much more.

For most of Dylan's life I have worked part time and we had lots of free time together. I recently started working full time. I was so worried how it would impact our time together. It has been great! I am off on Fridays, so Dylan and I still have a mommy/Dylan day each week. He loves going to daycare and seeing his friends. I am blown away at how much get has grown in the past year and even more so since going full time at daycare. He loves to sing. Twinkle twinkle is his favorite, but he sings all the time. He knows most of his ABC's, all his colors and can count to 15.

Dylan is very sweet and will melt your heart with his words. Wether he tells you you're his best friend or he loves you, you can't help but smile. He is wild and crazy at times and sweet and innocent the next. You never know what's in store but it's gonna be an adventure. I can't believe my baby boy will be 3 in just a few months. Time please slow down!

Here are some of my favorite pics

Dylan turns 2!

Well this post is about 8 months too late. Shortly after Dylan's 2nd Birthday our computer crashed. Now that I have all our photos I am able to update the last several months. The easiest way for me to catch you up is through a timeline of pictures. Sit back and enjoy watching our big boy grow right before your eyes :)

Dylan's 2nd birthday theme was Mickey Mouse. He has loved Mickey since he was a baby so it just seemed fitting. Thanks to Pinterest I was able to be crafty and add several fun and special touches. Everyone wore their Mickey or Minnie ears while eating Mickey shaped chicken nuggets!! The party was at our house. Dylan had a blast surrounded by family and his friends. I will let the photos do the talking

Our Big Boy..Catching up the last few months..

1st time playing in snow

Since my last post, almost 5 months ago, our baby has become such a  big boy! Dylan went from scooting to RUNNING! He is full of energy. You would never believe he had such a late start in walking.

In May, poor Dylan had back to back viruses that caused his lympth nodes to swell. Once he overcame the virus, they continued to stay enlarged. This concerned his Dr ,so began our journey of monthly checkups to follow up on the size of the swollen glands. After 5 months of Dr visits & continued enlarged nodes, we were sent to Kosairs to have a biopsy. His Dr was confident that everything would be OK, but with not much change over 5 months she felt this was the next step. It was definitely an interesting day to say the least. As Dylan's "happy juice" kicked in, he entertained all the nurses by a VERY slurred "Go Cards".LOL.   We had a very grumpy boy post biopsy, but were happy to put it all behind us. Because his Dr was so optimistic, it made the experience a little less stressful for Ryan & I.  A Few days later we received the news that the nodes were fine. Apparently he has very sensitive nodes & we have nothing to worry about.

Ryan & I have always enjoyed boating & in August, traded in our speed boat for a more family friendly Pontoon! Dylan had his first boating experience & did well. Both times we took him out for  short rides, but we hope this summer he will become a boater like the rest of his family :)

Dylan had his first Dentist visit at 22 months old. The office waiting room was very typical but he really enjoyed reading the books they had to share. He enjoyed it so much, when we were called to go back, a screaming fit took place right in the middle of the room! Once taken back, he did calm down enough to enjoy getting a new toothbrush & brushing his teeth at the kid size sink. He was all smiles until the dentist began the exam. It took me, the nurse & dentist to hold him down. They both commented on how strong he is!! Next exam in 6 months...wish me luck!!

Brushing AFTER we left dentist!

We had a wonderful Christmas. It was so much fun to see Dylan excited about the gifts. Last year it was more about the tissue paper & boxes. He was definitely spoiled beyond belief by all the grandparents. I felt like a kid again. Christmas is way more fun when you experience it thru the eyes of a child :)

My Dad ( aka Popeye) gave Dylan his favorite gift.. A Lightning McQueen & a Mater car. He had recently became obsessed with Disney Cars movie, so it should not have surprised me that he became so attached to these toys!  They are in his hands 24/7.  Within the next few weeks, he began a new love for the Toy Story Movies. My mom, (aka Nonna) gave him an early bday present of a Buzz Lightyear & Woody doll. We now have Mater, Mcqueen, Woody & Buzz where ever we go!!

Dylan is talking up a storm! His first sentences were (no surprise) " Buzz Lightyear Flies" & ( my favorite) " I Wub you Mommy". I am constantly amazed how much he changes daily. It makes me sad to see my "baby" fading, but at the same time I love seeing him grow & becoming a big boy.

Since Dylan was 4 months old he has been a thumb sucker. It was rare to not see his thumb in his mouth.  He recently shocked us by giving up his love for his thumb. I notice just after Christmas he was sucking his thumb less & less. Finally we noticed he stopped all together! I am so relieved that he stopped on his own,. I was a thumb sucker & it was a habit I carried on for way too long & was extremely hard to break. The only explanation I have, is he has found comfort in his new "friends" Woody, Buzz, Mater & Mcqueen!!!

I cant believe we are only days away from celebrating our baby boys 2nd birthday!!! It doesn't even seem real to me. Time goes by way too fast! I have been busy planning his Mickey Mouse themed party & cant wait to spend the day with close friends & family. I have definitely learned may things the past 2 years. There is no handbook when it comes to parenting..its the most important job you will ever have.. there are no secrets..just a lot of emotions. All I know is that you must do what ever it takes to keep your little one safe, everything else, is a day by day learning experience. I must say..I'm enjoying every second of it!!
